There are pay and free Directory Sites that we have a choice of submitting to some are for as low as one dollar and up.Many are free with a reciprocal link and many are free to submit to with one way links.The method of choice is up to the individual-but if you can afford a fee to one or more of these sites it will be a plus.But also many of the free sites are very high in quality and even page rank.
Internet search engines help users find web pages on a searched subject.The search engines store and maintain databases of web sites. And use programs to collect information that is indexed by the search engine.Directories provide a similar service in that they collect and maintain web pages in an orderly lists of web sites.
In todays Internet its not necessary to submit to the search engines anymore the days of submitting your site manually to search engines to be included in their listings are over.However it is very important to submit to search directories in order for the search engines to locate and index your web pages.The more directories that your site is listed to then the better chance search bots and spiders will crawl and index those pages.The days of manually submitting to search engines so that they will crawl and index your web site are over.

Site linking is also a part of the large process to have the search engines crawl and index your site.Some Guru's feel this is not as important while others feel it is a necessity to get ranking.There are guide lines to follow when linking with other web sites.Choose sites that have relevant or similar content and information as your own web site.Don't link with a site just because it has a high page ranking and has no content that matches with your content.This by some search engines is considered link farming and can actually in a way be looked on as spamming-and can reduce your ranking.
